Question by : I have just tried to repair my hot water heater…?
I have a 220 volt electric hot water heater that I had to replace the upper and lower thermostat on and also the lower heating element. When checking the voltage from the ground to the lower heating element both sides are registering 110..is this correct? I have hot water.
when I go between the two wires on the lower heating element on each side I am getting 0??
Best answer:
Answer by At times I Lie N sometimes it is true DC uses ground. AC does not Each side registered half when you grounded it. Had you touched both sides with each pointer at the same time 220.. The voltage was there before in the wiring, that would not change so doing the extra check is not necessary. Just put in the bottom element and wire it up and it will start cooking ergo hot water.

Question by MarQus1: Is a tankless water heater good for VERY cold weather?
I’m from Canada EH! And up here we commonly get sub-zero weather in the winter – it can sometimes gets as cold as -30 oF. I heard stories that a tankless water heater was ok in the summer, but in the winter when the temp is really cold, the hot water is that much colder – i.e. warm instead of piping hot – anyone with experience on this?
Best answer:
Answer by trekkie706 foreverhotwater.com tankless water heaters will heat water to temperature you set by remote control. If you want to take 105F degree shower, you set temp to 105! You don’t have to turn on cold to mix with hot. heater will send you the hot water that you set t-stat at, it will restrict the flow in order to heat water to desired temp, so winter temps will restrict it more than summer
